Team Tetris Tournament

Monday, February 9th, 2009

We’re now entering the second week of the Tetris Party Co-op tournament. I thought I would share my experience with my friend John. John and I are both fairly strong Tetris players. However, he has not had the pleasure of practicing T-spins as much as I have (which ultimately is the best way to get the most points). That said, this is the stategy we followed:

He would be player 1 (meaning he got all the L, O, and J blocks). He would start off LT stacking by putting the L in columns 9 and 10. He would also sometimes help out by putting a J in columns 12 and 13 to help get the notch building started on my side.

From there, it was all about building up your own side. He would maintain the L’s, I would maintain the notches. Given that I had the harder build (in theory), I would occassionally call for a square to help correct a stacking issue. This allowed me to keep the notches going, and allowed him not to have to focus to hard on the t-spins.

Needless to say it worked, for we managed to get to 1st and 4th. Not to bad for a few hours on a sunday :-).

Good luck all, and let me know if you come up with a method for t-spin singles. I would love to hear it.
