That said, i’ve turned over the chat room here to the quakenet chat room maintained by the new Tetrisconcept. I hope to see you all there if and when I can find the time to head there. Hope you find the java client useful for those times you just don’t have an IRC client with you :-).

Thanks for all the good times!

We’re now entering the second week of the Tetris Party Co-op tournament. I thought I would share my experience with my friend John. John and I are both fairly strong Tetris players. However, he has not had the pleasure of practicing T-spins as much as I have (which ultimately is the best way to get the most points). That said, this is the stategy we followed:

He would be player 1 (meaning he got all the L, O, and J blocks). He would start off LT stacking by putting the L in columns 9 and 10. He would also sometimes help out by putting a J in columns 12 and 13 to help get the notch building started on my side.

From there, it was all about building up your own side. He would maintain the L’s, I would maintain the notches. Given that I had the harder build (in theory), I would occassionally call for a square to help correct a stacking issue. This allowed me to keep the notches going, and allowed him not to have to focus to hard on the t-spins.

Needless to say it worked, for we managed to get to 1st and 4th. Not to bad for a few hours on a sunday :-).

Good luck all, and let me know if you come up with a method for t-spin singles. I would love to hear it.

Also, Tetribot has been updated to show the rankings, so you can lookup your Tetris Party Round 2 tournament rank by typing rank tp Justin (where Justin is your name). You can also look up scores from the previous round by typing rank tp-t1r1 Justin (t1r1 meaning, tournament 1 round 1).

Lastly, if I don’t post before the holidays. Merry Christmas everyone.

With Christmas just around the corner, I’ve been looking for some Tetris gifts to get some of the people I know who love puzzles. Many of them used to play Tetris with me all the time, so bringing the memories back to them just makes it all the more fun.

So here are 3 gifts that I’ve been considering getting people:

#1 - Tetris Party (WiiWare) - This $12.00 USD game for the wii can be gifted using the wiishop channel. The downside is you can’t wrap this gift, and to insure they got it on Christmas, you would have to send it, on Christmas. But if they have a Wii, and don’t have this, they should really pick it up. And hey, if they are any good, they might also be able to pick up an extra 1200 wiiware points by playing in one of the Tetris tournaments going on (so double the gift!)

#2 - Tetrice Ice Tray - Although I’m not sure how much shipping would be to get this to the states.. It seems like a great little novelty toy for someone who might already have all the other Tetris items in their life… It might also be good for the Tetris player who might be lacking some basic social skills, because they can use it as an “ice breaker” haha… (sorry) (thanks iphys via TetrisConcept.com)

#3- The Tetris Tie - For the ultimate tetris nerd to ware to probably the same parties that you might find the Tetris ice to be at.

Happy holidays everyone. And thanks for visiting the new site!

So after years of being blockstats.org, and trying to be a TetrisDS searchable ranking system, I have decided to migrate the site to a chat only site for people who want to talk Tetris. Boring, I know. But the way I see it, Tetris Concept already has the forum and wiki down, and I feel that the best thing I can do is support the growth of that.

However, there still needs to be a place for people to arrange games, exchange friend codes, and host tournaments real time. Especially since Nintendo has left “waiting rooms” out of every one of it’s Tetris games (at least to my knowledge).

So welcome one and all… Talk tetris. Build friendships. Host Tetris tournaments. Just have fun. I’ll see if I can’t add a few more features in the future, but for now, it’s simply a place to chat about Tetris.
